Electrification of water interface

نویسندگان

چکیده

The surface charge of a water interface determines many fundamental processes in physical chemistry and science, it has been intensively studied for over hundred years. We summarize experimental methods to characterize the densities developed so far: electrokinetics, double-layer force measurements, potentiometric titration, surface-sensitive nonlinear spectroscopy, mass spectrometry. Then, we elucidate ion adsorption chemical electrification as examples mechanisms. In end, novel effects on are discussed detail. believe that this clear overview state art charged will surely help progress physics at interfaces future.

Total Water Contents in Volcanic Eruption Clouds and Implications for Electrification and Lightning*

The fundamental role of ice particle collisions in the separation of electric charge and generation of lightning in thunderclouds is now reasonably well established (Latham, 1981; Williams, 1985; Saunders, 1995). Charge separation and lightning are also prevalent in volcanic eruptions. A recent literature survey by McNutt and Davis (2000), and its recent extension, has shown more than 150 incid...

Alternate electrification and non-potable water: A health concern for Jamaicans

BACKGROUND Research has shown that the absence of electricity and potable water usually result in negative effects on one's health and is more likely to affect women than men. AIM To determine the extent to which alternate electrification and limited potable water, impacts on health. MATERIALS AND METHOD This study is informed by primary and secondary data, representing a sample size of 150...

Dielectric constant of water in the interface.

We define the dielectric constant (susceptibility) that should enter the Maxwell boundary value problem when applied to microscopic dielectric interfaces polarized by external fields. The dielectric constant (susceptibility) of the interface is defined by exact linear-response equations involving correlations of statistically fluctuating interface polarization and the Coulomb interaction energy...
